Why does parenting feel so messy!?
As a mother of 3, I’ve been parenting for almost three decades now and I’m in the teenage years with my youngest. What I can tell you is that the mom that my eldest had at the time, is not the same mom my youngest has now. And that is good news though… Because if we don’t grow as parents we risk simply repeating generational patterns from our own families of origin. If we don’t courageously take a peek at what is driving our responses with our kids…. we risk the most important aspect and gift of parenting— the relationship.
What are parent coaching sessions like?
I will support you in your particular struggle with parenting and you will gain new skills, more understanding, and more importantly a shift in the way you see your child and interpret their behavior. Everything you learn in our sessions is intended to create more connection in your parenting relationships.
The parent’s degree of self-awareness and willingness to accept responsibility for their role in the relationship with their child is the magic ingredient that makes change, growth, and shifts in our child’s behavior possible.
My approach is warm, compassionate, skilled, intuitive, and trauma-informed. I draw from my own transformational ongoing journey of consciously parenting my 3 kids for the last 28 years and counting. As well as my lengthy experience of supporting and mentoring families over the last 15 years.
I am trained and Certified by Dr. Shefali Tsabary as well as having studied with Dr. Gabor Maté during a year-long training in his psychotherapeutic approach called Compassionate Inquiry. My coaching is also informed by having the privilege of having several respected wisdom teachers who have guided me in my life and contributed greatly to my growth.
Additional Training:
I am trained in and worked as a RIE Educarer. A beautiful approach to early childhood that emphasizes connection, and respect in early life. You will find suggested books in my resources section.
For many years I was trained and served as an End-Of-Life Doula. After the loss of my parents, sister, and beloved life partner, I chose to move on from this work. I am deeply grateful as it has given me skills and capacities that are hard to articulate but somehow translate into my capacity to be a compassionate ally to those I work with.
